Sorry to hear the bad news.

He told me that he wanted $750 for the hood.

if your 5 year old is going to be around the shop I would suggest a N/S switch be installed.
a neighbor of mine once had his 7 year old nephew playing in his old ford truck and he turned the key on and ran the truck into the side of the house. the house was high enough off the ground that when the truck went under the house, it caught the hood and pushed it through the windshield..:yup:

I am just happy to hear that you and your son are ok. Cars can be fixed or replaced but sometimes people can't.

I used to really like those Broncos ... until now. They don't seem to play well with Mavs.

Seriously ... glad it sounds like it will actually work out for you. And the change in mindset might be what you both needed.

Hard to see. but it looks like the extended rear bumper actually did some good here. The back end would likely be much more messed up with the pre-73 bumper set-up.

Yes, I paid $750 for the hood. I spent over $1600 for all the parts I bought that included a pair of rechromed skinny bumpers and the stuff to convert the front. Since I had a $1000 deductable, the insurance company reimbursed me the amount over the $1000. Farmers were very good to work with so I bought the best quality and condition I could find. It was also the only way the body shop would work with me. They didn't want to send stuff out for sand blasting or spend a lot of time rehabbing the old stuff and agreed this would save money in their labor hours overall.

The Maverick has been in the body shop for almost a week now and well on it's way to being on the road again. Thank you everyone for the support! Jeff

glad to hear bill set you up with the parts you needed. and since the insurance is paying for it why not go for the good stuff

the color on that hood matches curb hoppers maverick perfectly too bad we couldnt afford the $750 but thats okay it has gone to a good home and will be loved for years to come

What is your plan for the rest of the car? Are you leaving the LDO trim, and vinyl top? Are you going to incorporate any of the factory-style Grabber accents (stripes, blackouts)?

Sorry to hear of your 'incident', but it seems you are able to "make lemonade". Good Luck, and I can't wait to see the 'new' Maverick!

Good question. After I get her back and put on the new wheels, tires and install the new vintage air kit, I'll go from there. If I can come up with a rear spoiler I have the feeling it will go the Grabber route. It has the original vinyl top and seems to be no rust under it so I'm not too concerned about pulling off the top/trim and sending back to the body shop when the time comes.

Thanks for the info. At this time he doesn't have any but might make some in 2014. I asked him to keep me on his contact list of buyers.
