What did you do to your Maverick or Comet today

    today i tried getting my carb straight again. not sure if it is just that or the pump too. only get to work on it in the cold evenings. hopefully its my fuel pump beCAUSE I RECENTLY rebuilt the holley. it just starvs for fuel when i accelerate.

    When you first give it more pedal or when the engine tries to rev?

    every time i give it gas....idles great....i just read through many threads about white smoke too and am going to replace the modulator because i am losing tranny fluid..maybe this is also making it run like crap...plugs are fouling (2sets in 1 month or so) the plugs are black and they all have oil on the threads

    I would suspect the accelerater pump / squirters aren't getting fuel. If you reversed the bowl gasket the hole that supplies fuel from the pump to the squirter will be blocked. Did you properly adjust the pump lever arm after reassembly?

    Did you check the float function and float level adjustment?

    Got my Rack&Pinnion fabed in need to finish welding everything and build drag link to connect Rack to inner tie rods!

    plan is... to install 1/4 window seals (thanks Rusty Auto Parts) and clean up front/back window trim (thanks Jeff) ...:yup:

    ya all is good for the floats..set at 7/64....last night the carb was fine.... car finally started with no problem....vaccum reading is dead on....timing is at 10 btdc....still bogs when i accelerate. going to replace the vac mod tomorrow in hopes of not losing anymore tranny fluid

    drove it some,stopped and looked at a 76 2 door that was sitting at a local shop talked to its owner and refered him here,drove it home noticed it is still smoking from the header wrap soaked with trans fluid incedent and parked it.. too cold to ride in it with no heater..

    went to install the trim clips for my window molding...cracked the front glass...called Hagerty, they said they will take care of it...:thumbs2:

    new glass...$174
    new window seal...$79
    install...$100
    having Hagerty Ins....priceless...:yup:

    New pitman from Rock Auto, rear brake shoes from NAPA and had the carb rebuilt. Filled it up with 91 and it runs like a "raped ape".:drive:
