Took it to an 1/8th mile drag strip. Best was 8.2867 ET @85.76 MPH. Unfortunately, got a red light with -.0037 reaction time. But the most exciting thing was when I got to the end, let off, and the throttle was stuck open.

I removed the air cleaner before the run and I didn't take the gasket off. :badwords: The gasket got sucked down the carb and stuck the secondary butterflys open. Not a good feeling to be going 85 MPG and engine won't shut down. It probably wasn't full throttle but it sure felt like it. Managed to get the ignition off without locking the steering wheel. Had to pull the carb off to get the piece of gasket out. No damage to the engine. :)

Re-installed the dealer option hood tach after cleaning and painting the plastic cover and dials. The tach is just there for show, it's not operable. I took it off abt a yr ago and decided to put it back. I like the car better w/o the tach but don't like the hole in my hood. Besides, it's kind of rare - don't hardly see them.

I also mounted my elec eng. fan to the radiatior w/ some fabed steel brackets and 1/4*20 bolts.
I had it mounted w/ those plastic fasteners going thru the radiator but never felt comfortable w/ that setup. Im uneasy abt those fastners detriorating and the fan is only abt 3/8" frm water pump - "to close" - not much room for error. With my old setup I had to remove the radiator to take the fan out cuz the ac condenser blocked access to keep the plastic screws frm spinning.

Lastly, I ran a 10ga. wire across the support for wiring my headlights and 2 horn frm the battery instead of the switches. Tommorrow I hope to get the relays and fuseblock for the light/horn upgrade. Gettin ready to Kruize.

Stuck in training in Atlanta today, but I plan on working on my car tomorrow. Job 1 is to finish installing the fuel cell.

Not sure if you heard of this, but there is a guy who rebuilds Dixco tachs like ours. Kinda pricey, but an option. http://www.tachman.com/dixco.htm

Thanks for the info. Sometime in the future I will consider havin it repaired. I see AK sells them for abt 350. I have a few other mech issues to deal w/ B4 I consider refurbishing the tach.

Today I detailed the area where the rad/fan mounts and painted the brackets I made for the elec fan yesterday.

I'm drying off, after power washing my 8.8 rearend, I don't think the driveline shop would like it being all greasy.
