Highly doubtful, bud. Especially since Dynomat has relatively large R&D and designs it for that very purpose. But I do hear you about the inherent similarities though.

In my mind.. at the very least?.. you'd have to use twice as much of this cheaper alternative to even get close to the same result as the Dynomat stuff. Which of course offsets the savings to be had by using it.

I've actually used both in their intended applications and I do know that the Dynomat seems the better choice for this purpose. But then again.. sometimes we get as close as we can when trying to save money, I guess. :)

Anywho, I probably should have just kept my mouth shut or deleted my post before someone qouted me. Don't need to wear out my welcome any faster that my typical "1001 questions" will normally do.

It's not TAR base...it is MASTIC base. Mastic is used in making varnishes, lacquers, adhesives and other products. It does have asphalt but asphalt doesn't stink like tar. Detroit has been putting roofing underlayment in cars since the the day after the beginning of time.

When the body shop rebuilt my rear wheel housings and installed NOS quarter panels 15 years ago they completely covered the housings and inside quarters with roofing tar. When I asked the old guy why he did that he said he's been doing that since the 50's and that "if this stuff lasts for 20 years on a roof it'll last forever in your car". LOL

Was thinking of doing the gauge thing myself.. but the face of my clusters are so foggy white with age..I think I need to replace those to.

Grabbed a ratchet, extension and a 3/8 socket. Took the seat back out. Gonna have it recovered.

Got a call from the guy working on my orange 70 today saying he was having a problem getting the new engine started. Later he called and said it's alive. Distributor was 180 out. He says it sounds great, just has to make a few adjustments and it's ready to come home.
Replacing the 200 with a 250. New pistons, +.020. rings, cam, lifters, fuel pump, oil pump, water pump. New drive shaft u-joints front and rear. And radiator from the 250 was redone. All new hoses and belts, spark plug wires and lots more. Also newly rebuilt tranny and a new torque convertor.
I just don't have the time or energy to do all the work so I shipped it out. At least I know it would get done.
He also bought my Sprint from me. :)

Got my Tinning butter and 50/50 lead sticks from Johnson Manufacturing the other day. Much better than the kit from Eastwood. So I did some leading on my driver side fender, Very impressed.
