Worked in the garage until it got too hot. Removed the steering column, rest of the dash support, brake lines and gas vent line. Hardest part was dealing with all the spider webs under the car. I really don't like spiders.

Also took a closer look at my transmission and noticed that it wasn't original. The 302 block is but the transmission must have been replaced. It came out of a 73 something built in Kansas City if I am reading the partial VIN correctly. No more "numbers matching" for me:rofl2:.

Finished the 2 bbl conversion! test drove the car, what a difference. Still a lot of work to be done, but this car being a driver limits how much work we can do at a time. Next step is to finish cleaning up the fender panels and firewall - paint them and start on adding ac, then power disc brakes.....

So in your opinion is it worth swapping to the 2 brl power wise?

Certainly. Hard to tell just how much as the rebuilt stock carb needed some attention. The throttle response is greatly improved and the car runs so much smoother.

Took it for a ride, left it parked. When I returned, SURPRISE!!! The brake pedal went down to the bottom. "Maybe it needs a liitle brake fluid"- I thought, so I refilled it. When I get in the car again, I pressed the pedal again... Down to the floor, i pressed a few more times thinking it needed to build some pressure, nothing. Then I hear a squirting on the driver's front wheel. I get out the car and checked the tire... All my brake fluid spilled on the floor. At first I thought that MAYBE the brake bleeder was probably loose causing the spill, but on a closer inspection it turned out that the brake hose was ripped up! Wrongly I didn't have my tools on the car so I asked the guy on a parking lot nearby for some tape. So I rolled it on the hose to try and reduce the leaking a little, I refilled the cylinder, and headed home which luckily was very close. It was a scary ride! :badwords::cry:

Swapped the old Mallory distributor with a points type with Pertronix module. Now it starts better, sounds smoother and the initial hesitation is gone : )
