got the fan pully drilled out and installed then put the fan and radiator in got all of the lines hooked up got the starter on all of the plugs in and hooked up all fluids in then figured out my custom metal gas line was leaking:cry:. then when I went to prime everything I smelled alot of oil. come to find out I forgot one little thing int he mad rush to get the engine started. ...... its called the oil sending unit!:biglaugh:

got that put back in (had to go run and buy a new one that still had a hold tag on it for me from 6 months ago) then go to try and start it again AND it was out of time.:banghead:

ok left to take my buddy home and my son calls me while Im out and he tells me my baby is crying for me:confused: I said what? I didnt have a clue as to what he was talking about. he reset the timing while I was gone and got it started :party3: so as soon as I got home I had to start it! I looked at the time it was 9:42pm I said ok Ive got 8 minutes to start it without the neighbors calling the cops
better believe I made use of every second of those 8 minutes :D

Really really debating pulling it out of the shop for a wash... Then a drive... But it's like 33 degrees out... And I still do need a new fuse for the alternator to seliniod.. If it surges, what does it burn out? Hopefully just the seliniod. And what's the odds of that anyways..?

The purpose of a fuse is to keep the wires from burning up. Why did the first fuse blow?

Noticed an oil leak between the head and block. Purchased a head gasket set and got ready to fix the problem and noticed a valve cover bolt was rounded. :(

    Haha.

And for the other "fuse" I had I used a inline breaker.. When I got it it was cracked - they wouldn't return my calls or send mena new one so I epoxied it up and It worked great... Something inside of it was screwed I think.. Whenever it got hot under the hood it started to partially open so then I guess the contacts were barely making contact so I used tape to hold it closed but then again it gets hot and tape got loose lol.
The new fuse will fix it all.. Not ever going to try a breaker again after that experience.

Working the brakes. Now that I'm almost finished and have replaced near everything possible, Frank has gone and made things more complicated by telling me about the rear disk brake conversion. So today I will be heading over to Frank's to see his nice garage and see a couple of disk brake conversions he has performed. Just when I'm thinking I'm making headway, Frank tells me about an easier way and then I'm back to square one. But the results is always better. Thanks Frank for the help. BUT, this Merc project is taking forever. Can someone tell me if it ever ends?
