Got my 70 back from the paint shop last week. Today I took the bucket seats and the rear seat from my 71 down to the upholsterer. They are going in to the 70. :)

    Earl,
Did you make it to the Dream Cruise? I never saw you. I was out with my son's Comet and I drove with Dale for a while. Sorry I missed you.

I put a Maverick hood and Charlie Yan's billet grill on my Comet today. It fits nicely. It's nice to be able t just order parts and they bolt in place with cutting the car up. Overlook the colors, car has not been painted yet. Sorry for the upside down pic. I can't seem to be able to flip it right side up. charlieyan@yahoo.com

Took the Mav to a friends shop, someone I trust, to get a really bad vibration out of the rear of the car. He took the trans, driveshaft and rear end out to check them all out. He found the trans to be good, just changed the tailshaft bushing and seal. Driveshaft is newly rebuit and good. Rear end diff ok, no issues. Axles...that is shere he found the problem. Pass side has big wobble and noisy bearing. Driver side has wobbly axle shaft. He is ordering new axles, bearings and studs. Hope this fixes the vibration. We'll see!

Here is a 1971 Maverick without the body, seats or drive train. Anyone see anything missing?

Depressing, I'm sure there is 500+ hours of work and $5K to get this all back on the body like new (probably double that as usual).

Worked on installing drivers side door, glass run, beltline wx strip, cleaned & painted the hollow area w/ Rust Bullet, painted the interior of the door w/ Eastwood UH, matte black. Letting it dry and putting the glass and door panel back tomorrow. I had a hard time removing the interior panel, broke 7 surrounding areas where the clips hold it to the door. I had that panel off last year w/o any problems-came of w/o a hitch. Can't figure out why is was so difficult this time. Heading to Michigan Friday for NSRA Northwest Nats. At least that's the plan. Found vry small amt of rust in the door hollows, most of that surface rust. Have a small hole bottom rear corner of the door. I did passenger door a few weeks ago.

Installed the CSRP disk brake conversion this morning. Painless! Glad I bought this early when I still had some $ left.

Looking back, I bought the SWAP 1.6/M which reuses the existing spindle and allows use of the original 14 inch wheel. I suspect I will use a 15" wheel, but it's sure comming in handy now when I can't afford new wheels! Ughh, it was $600+, but it was so easy. They include everything including grease and thread locker. I only had to go out for brake cleaner (which I should have had anyway).
