I hope you guys aren't coming to the 2015 roundup. Every time I think I'm moving the bar on something, someone posts a picture that puts me back in my place. Give me a break!

Jeff came down today, we played with my timing a little and then put new front wheel bearings in his car.

    Agreed, nice work...

I installed the rear valance(finally back from paint) & bumper, tweaked on the front end alignment, fixed a minor P/S weep(re-snugged one cylinder to valve hose), cleaned up the mess from the 1st P/S leak(loose fitting), installed a replacement headlight switch, reassembled the dash, lubed the horn slider contacts on steering wheel, and tidied up the under dash wiring... Then I washed it and put the plates on for a ride through the neighborhood(just open headers, no exhaust system)... Need to do some more tweaking on the front end, install grille, race mirrors, etc etc...

The more I look at this the more I see what you have done! Springs moved in, front of the inner wheel house opened up and a missing upper shock mount cross member for starters.

been working on the gt alot this week
decided to put headers on and WOW did that open a hole new can of worms with the power steering.

of course the power steering didnt fit with the headers well even with the drop bracket it still wouldnt clear one tube on my headers and rather than bashing in my tube I had my friend make me a new bracket and weld it in place (it only took butchering the original drop bracket trying to make it work and after screwing up another custom bracket before we finally got it right) then came the cutting the dual exhaust pipes back far enough to weld to the collectors.
hardest thought it was going to be easy job I had to do yet

also changed all 8 shackle bushings today what a PIA to get the old ones out.
another one of those I thought it would be easy jobs.

I havent worked on my other comet since I blew the motor BUT good news came today my new DART block came in and is it ever a beauty :bananaman::bananaman::bananaman::bananaman::bananaman::bananaman::bananaman::bananaman::bananaman::bananaman::bananaman:
I have been waiting for parts to start coming in since I first started paying for them a little at a time 2 years ago

I was so JACKED UP I didnt eat lunch after seeing it at the machine shop. heck I was so determined to be there when it came in I waited there for hours like I was waiting for a kid to be brought into the world :biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

dart heads came in today too :bananaman::bananaman::bananaman: BUT they were the WRONG ONES :slap::(:(:(:(:(

I made a silk purse fit on a sow's ear.

Well, when I bought this Comet it didn't have any air cleaner and the carburetor sticks up kinda high so not just any air cleaner would fit. The previous owner proved that because there's a small, triangular shaped bubble in the hood, that looks just like one of those three bladed winged hold down nuts. You've seen them. So they must have put an air cleaner on, then slammed the hood shut and. . . oops!

    Anyway.

I tried an aftermarket one from the local parts store and it was too tall. So I started searching the net and I found one that California Mustang had that is made for a '65-'73 six cylinder Mustang with an original Autolite 1V carb. It has a low profile base that gets the air cleaner lower. My carb is different but I was sure I could make this one work.

And I did have to make some cuts.

It's a little larger diameter than I'd like to see on a six but, considering there's probably nothing else that will fit, I can live with it.

The hood closes over it and that was my goal!

Now to get rid of that cheezy fake braided junk on the heater hoses!

Changed my turn signal switch, the new switch is for a mustang so the wire harness is longer.. I just zip tied it in no big deal.. Now I have to get a brake light switch because I still don't have working brake lights... My turn signals and for the first time my emergency flashers work too...
