Sounds like a locking gas cap is in order.

Scrubbing and prepping all of the plastic interior parts to be painted, stripping anodizing of aluminum brightwork and cutting lacing on seatbelts to release buckles and hardware.

I do already have one and a 2 mile per gallon loss is a lot when you only get 8 miles per gallon normally.

Installed new support and aluminum box, and new trunk pan, splatter painted inside of trunk. Getting ready to plumb fuel lines

That actually doesn't look too bad! Whether it's a small hole or the whole cowl rotten, it's still an adventure just getting to the affected area! Once it's done and sealed again, it will be WELL worth the trouble. :thumbs2:

I just finished my cowl replacement this summer/fall.

Cut, trim, fit, cut, trim, fit then weld and weld some more. To quote Martin Riggs "I'm too old for this ****!" Too much time at a desk, my back can only take it for so long, guess I had better get my lazy butt back in the gym.

Drove over to Eddie's shop today to take all of my plastic interior parts for paint. Checked up on progress on the car. Discussed the state of my nasty looking Grabber hood with the body tech., who suggested running over it with a forklift. Got depressed and drove over to Summit to check out the demo rack, only to get more depressed.

Neat installation ! I'm also installing a new tank in my '70 and am dealing with the sheet metal over the tank
    placement.
