One other tip about the Cragars, keep the washer flat against the wheel while tightening the lug nuts. I love the wheels, but this drives me crazy when taking off, putting on the wheels. I had to have one replaced when they were first installed because the installer didn't do this and messed up the wheel by allowing the washer to be loose and hit the wheel as he tightened it, causing the washer to bind on the wheel and mess up the chrome.

Yes, picked up on that right away. Don't think I'll ever let anyone mount one of these wheels. After putting the wheels on once, I'm not a fan of unilugs but maybe it gets easier with practice.

This seemed like a good discussion on unilugs. http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/423652-cragar-ss-wheels-unilug.html

Took the last two days off of work so I could put my new transmission in... and yes I have some pics, and surprising enough i had to do less fabrication then I initially expected.

You all know how it goes when building these car with every step you have to reinvent something so with updated four wheel disk brakes I have to go get more adapter fittings to make thing work and have to pull the drivers side header to reroute one of the header tubes so the pitman arm will clear so I got kinda bummed now Mavmet is building a 72 grabber and I'm building a 70 base model and where near the same place in our builds we call each other ideas and moral support he called and could tell I was bummin so he said why don't you build that Gage pod you been thinking about to get my head out of the problems and do some other little project now I'm old and need big gages to see them and I wanted to have them point at me from the package tray so heres how it came out.

Pulled out the original fuel tank and removed the rear bumper. I thought the rear bumper was decent, but it's just a pile of rust. Good thing I recently picked up a doner Comet with good small bumpers.

Got the new chrome 15X7 Cragar SSs and BFG Radial TAs on the car and cleaned up. :dancing:

The 4.125" backspace works well with the 235/60/15s on the back. Can almost get a finger in between the tire and the leaf spring and it looks like, if the body ever goes down that far, the tire will miss the fender lip by about 1/4". Gotta take it for a ride to check for rub on the 205/60/15 front tires with max turn but I don't expect any problem.

Looks awsome! PLEASE don't forget the calendar :)
Just an idea. Has anyone taken a string and pulled a line from the face of the rear tires and gone up past the lip to see how close it rides? I know that my differential sits closer to the right side than the left. Not by much but enough to tear the sidewall off if I'm not alert to the situation. I also overthink things too. I can only imagine that if my tires are in so much force that they go that high, how far side ways will it also go? I am sure I am not the only one who has lost new tires to the fender lip and it really sucks when it happens.

Haven't done the string from the lip to the bottom of the tire but that's a good idea. I agree, body could move sideways if its down that far. I re-did both rear quarters in that area, including outer wheel wells so sides could vary a bit.

No rubs on the front tires.

Spoke to my neighbor about another photo. This time he wants to be paid -- tomatoes from my garden. ;) Will try to get it done soon.
