Cool. Be careful, these little cars get sideways real quick.

Finally got motivated. Removed a broken bolt in the block. Chased the threads. pulled the WP and radiator. Will be changing all hoses and belts. Lots of rust in side and I always run a 50/50 mix of coolant. Any suggestions on what to do about the rust?

Mine is a stock 250 with stock type brass radiator. The start of the problem was the heater outlet pipe from the water pump rusted through (thin steel). In taking the pump off, one of the bolts was bottomed out in the bolt hole. It was rusted and jammed in place. It broke just below the bolt head. When taking the rad off I noticed chunks of rust have also clogged the rad cooling tubes, but the inside brass was not coated with rust. I had chemically flushed the system two years ago and gotten most of the rust out of the system. The car sits a lot. Maybe 2000 miles in the last 7 years. I will try some additives to prevent rust. The T-stat housing is also eaten up, but it is aluminum.

I followed the advice in post #20 and used 1 qt of vc-9...has work well so far. I also replaced all hoses, t-stat/housing, and water pump.

Howd you do that without a garage to keep the car in? does a gate to the yard count? I tried to get approval on a car i would keep in my sideyard behind an rv gate and they said no.
