I see your door handles are removed. Does make it easier with the lower window channel out? I do want to remove the handles before I start painting

They're easy to pull out, roll up the window, reach in (door card removed) and remove two small bolts and they come right off.

IMG_6397.JPG Decided to use a new fan and built an off set shroud to make it fit. Couldn't find one that would work so had to build it from scratch. This thing pulls air!

Bill has just completed an INSIDE HOOD LATCH RELEASE for my Comet and the Maverick is NEXT ! Really neat, He used a Latch from an S10 pickup truck and he installed it so neatly it looks like it CAME with the car. Pleased with the results . No RAISING my Hood when I'm not around without being INSIDE the car. Appreciate the security !
Leaving for the HRPT on Thursday next week heading for Kansas City, MO then on to Ohio via Iowa , Illinois , and Indiana . Should be a real grin ! Incidentally .. Nice work on the fan and shroud you posted on Monday.

Some pics of the previously posted wheelskins leather steering wheel cover. Slight gap between the stitching. Needed another 1/16th" of material. IMAG0005[1].jpg IMAG0006[1].jpg IMAG0007[1].jpg

    Nicely Done Hada !
I think it adds a lot to the look of the interior. Like the FORD horn button also .
    Kudos !

Thanks chip! When I have some time in June or July I'll have to stop by your shop and see the hood latch! Sounds like a great idea. Here's the photos of the fan installed. This is just the prototype, eventually I will build a better one using my finger brake. Till then this will work fine. Took it for a 40 mile drive today. Hi Will:
I think you've done a great job. If you need any Aluminum materials such as flat in several widths , 1-1/2" x 2" x 3" and 4 " and 6" widths , angles, round tubing , or square or rectangular tubing lemmeno . I have a shop full of it here and you're welcome to come over and browse if you're making a brace or something for your car. I don't extend that invitation to everyone or I'd be up to my eyeballs with tourists ( ha ) . Serious car buffs like yourself are welcome.
... Thanks for the HRPT mention. We're leaving Thursday at 3:00 PM and we're booking to Kansas City , Mo to arrive for the START of the tour on Saturday Morning . Bill and Al have gone over both the Comet and the Maverick from top to bottom , front to rear and I believe these cars are " READY" for the trip. I got a couple of two-way radios where Al and I can speak to each other without using the cell phone . Just click a button and we're there . Maybe next
year ( Lord willing) you could join us ? Anyway .. Thanks Will .

Got my sending unit today, putting the gas tank in now. Finished the brakes last week. Yesterday the alternator went out, so tomorrow I'll be replacing that. Should be on the road tomorrow night!

Started my engine with all fluids delivered to it in the normal fashion. Been waiting 16 months for this, and after a carb refresh to stop the overflow of gas, it ran good! :yahoo::yippee::jumping::woohoo1::wow:found some interesting gasket issues with the carb off though.

whoever put this together used a lot of orange gasket sealer.....orange port speed bump material. After I get the exhaust installed and registration and insurance dealt with, I will be reinstalling that intake. It sounds like someone put a cam in the motor.....I couldnt find my vacuum gauge, but I moved the distributor 3/4 inch in both directions and the idle didnt change, about 900 rpm. I imagine a road test will tell something.

Ordered a set of speedhut gauges. GPS speedometer and a 8K tach with built in shift lights. The speedometer has features like 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, elevation, compass, trip meter and clock...
