Put my 1971 plate on, cleaned needle and seat, plugged a few vacuum leaks, got it running smooth and hit the road! Went to the gas station, filled the tank (no leaks!) Went to the car wash (no leaks!) Drove around all day with the little guys, it was very satisfying. Hasnt been on the road in 20 years!

get a flashlight and look down in the cowl on the pass. side, could be full of leaves and pine straw. I had a Mav once that the cowl was so full of pine straw that it was above the top hat. this allowed water to wick into the heater box...we thought the cowl was leaking. I dropped the heater box, reached up inside the fresh air vent and pulled out over two bags of straw...:yup:
will also need to clean out the blower motor housing/heater box and duct work.
opening up a fresh air vent doing about 60 MPH will do the same thing...LOL

Installed AC temp "new old stock" sensor sw in heater box to cycle compressor.; had it wired to run constantly since last fall when I replaced compressor and had some other things done to the system. Got it done just in time b4 heat wave sets in next week and need it for road trips coming up.

    Hey Everett:
Where did you hear about this upcoming 'heat-wave' ..Alex and I are pulling out at 5:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon on our way to the 'Start' of the HRPT . We should be motoring through Iowa , and Illinois next week but we have to drive through a lot of rain on the way to Kansas City .. We're hoping the heat 'Dries' the roads we'll be traveling on. We're looking forward to meeting you in person @ Champaign , Illinois . See ya there .

According to HRPT site the date for Champaign is Tuesday, 13th. Is that the day u will be there? Heat wave coming here Sat - mid of nx week. PM/Email me the date u will be in Champaign - I want to make sure I have it right. I was confused on the email u sent on the dates.
In order not to jack this thread --- I moved my led running lites to the edge of front valance openings. Going to re-install my stero rx back in today -- had to remove all that stuff to get the temp sw out. Thought I might have had to lower the heater box to get it replaced was lucky/happy that was not necessary. Going to get all that done today B4 heat wave sets in this weekend -- to old to be working under a dash in 90+ temps....

    Hi Everett:
Reads like you've been busy !! Us too ! We got both the Maverick and the Comet " Prepped " for the trip and Al and I are pulling out of Deland, Florida at 5:00 pm tomorrow (Thursday) .. We're taking a different route to avoid going through Atlanta , Georgia due to their horrendous Traffic Situation there . ( My Sister just drove to Illinois and she has tipped us off about the construction delays and ' where ' they are ) .. So we're threading our way through the top of Florida .. across Rt 10 towards Alabama , etc. till we get to KC ! We're reviewed the DATE for Champaign .. It IS " TUESDAY" the THIRTEENTH !! Cars will BEGIN to arrive in Champain from the PREVIOUS STOP in IOWA .. and Then we'll spend most of the day IN Champaign and we'll leave there in the Evening for our Next Stop .. which is in MADISON, ILLINOIS ..@ Gateway Drag Strip .. and so on.. and so on .. etc. I'll be watching for you .

Started reassembling the car for it's move to storage. Seems like we just did this which is because we did just shy of five years ago! We moved from 2 1/2 acres to a postage stamp sized lot and it just isn't working for us. We sold our house over the weekend and bought a place on half an acre where no body can build behind us. I will still have my 1000 sqft garage PLUS room to build a shop if I choose to. Not looking forwards to the move but tickled pink to get out of this neighborhood.

Thanks Bob, hope you guys are having a good time breathing that fresh, salty air!

So far everything is going well, hopefully it stays that way! Home inspection is done and the buyers are satisfied so it's just wait until closing. That's where it will get exciting, get from one house to the other in a day! We're hiring a moving crew this time, putting as much in storage now and they can move the big stuff.
