I thought about it. Because the northeast can't make up its mind on what season it wants to be, I can just look at it. I plan on picking up some oil and a filter over the weekend.

We now have hazard lights! I switched out the hazard flasher and bought an oil filter. Oil to come after the next paycheck.

I got a 2 belt crank pulley out of the junk palace (those are getting hard to find) yesterday, soaked it in white vinegar overnight, wire brush drill attachment treatment, 2 coats of rustoleum, and viola! a wobble free pulley!! Car ran out of gas during warm up......my gauge was below E by about the thickness of the needle, so mental notes have been taken. I dont mind running out in the backyard.

Went for the first cruise of 2108. Car has been sitting 6 weeks due to snowy weather and salty roads. Everything seems to be working well. Next move in April, install some Heddman shorty headers and new exhaust sys. My long tube headers are leaking pretty bad through a crack in the collector and maybe some loose bolts at the heads. I can't complain on the headers, they were on the car when I got it 8+ years ago and don't know how long b4 that. Not a job I am looking forward to but can't have exhaust fumes either. Anyway, felt good to get the car out again...

I pulled out my driveshaft to R&R U-joints and get rid of a vibration. I also pushed my slip yoke all the way in, and it has to slide back 1 3/4 in to seat the drive shaft into the rear end. The slip yoke is 6" from U-joint center to the tip. Does anyone know what vehicles would have a 6.5 or longer C4 compatible yoke? I do have one bad u-joint....but I want to deal with the yoke while it is out.

Is yours not the stock slip yoke? You realize your slip yoke must have the ability to move both forward and rearward on the transmission tail shaft?

I.. THINK.. what he is saying here is that once he nests the rear u-joint the front has slid out 1 3/4" from fully seated onto the tail shaft.

That measurement sounds a little excessive to me but you are surely right that there MUST be at least 1/2"-3/4" clearance between the yoke and shaft or the rear bearing, seal, internal snaprings and likely rear main seal will not last long at all. Could even take out the trans mount too.

I've seen well over 1" clearance with stock parts before(have to keep in mind there is plenty of spline to spline contact patch surface area and that is not where they usually break anyways) but usually still try to minimize clearance when having custom length shafts done.
