Why the hole, what setup are you running? I bought the Rosehill kit, I would need to make a hole for my scattershield so I'm getting a Ford piece to avoid that.

been working nights which gives me ALL DAY to work on the maverick!

    today I was able to...
    - get the slave cylinder and throwout bearing/clutch fork installed and aligned on my bellhousing on the back of the engine.
    - routed the hydraulic line, welded up the clutch pedal to accept my clutch pedal push rod
    - got my headers in place.
    - took some backspacing measurements and spent some money on some wheels!..

I went with these (https://www.visionwheel.com/wheel/896/VisionWheel/521 Nitro?finishID=2404) in 15x7 all around... i wanted to go 15x8 in the rear but I wasn't confident on fitment with 4.5" backspacing.

slowly chipping away at this T5 swap/GT40P install.

Basically... im using a makeshift hydraulic kit that i pieced together myself (mostly through rockauto)... im using a push style..

there's 2 options i found when researching how to do hydraulic clutch with these bellhousings... either a bracket that sets the slave cylinder off to the side of the bellhousing, or mount the cylinder directly through the bellhousing and drill a new hole in the clutch fork. i elected for the latter. I was originally concerned as there were some forums for other cars that mentioned difficulty clearing long tube headers with the bracket option but after getting everything mounted up in there i realized i could've easily went with the bracket kit and saved some headache and time.

My friend David located a major vac. leak at the base of my T.B. I corrected it to find that the PCV system needs some love. the PVC valve I installed is way too much. this engine only needs a .090 in. orifice...:slap:

With a major vac leak; seems to me the car should have been running/idling poorly.

I was looking at building my own too but realized I just didn't want to mess with it. I saw this one would need mods with the scatter shield and wasn't concerned with that until I got the kit. In order to use it my clutch adjustments would be made through the clutch fork window. Since what I have is totally unnecessary for my car I'm buying a new Ford part and calling it good.

I'm guessing the 02 sensor was reading the extra air and adjusting the fuel for it...

Got my gt40 heads back after .040 was milled off. Put the valves back in, cc'd a chamber, and came up with 59. Chased all my threads with a tap coated with anti-seize. I had to remove 2 broken bolts and I dont want anymore of that. I even did my valve cover bolt holes cuz anti-seize is cheap.

Had to share this... Loving how these turned out.

235/60r-15 on the left and 255/60r15 on the right.. all on 15x7's.

also i got the T5 back into the car and about ready to get the mount installed and drop it to the ground and get my driveline measurement. seeing the rims and wheels gives serious motivation to get this thing back on the road.

I was tempted to dance with the devil, the Fox body devil that is. Found a very clean, low mile 84 V6 car for 2,000 and considered buying it and putting my go fast bits into it. It was tempting just to have something fun to drive but I went out and spent time with the Maverick instead. Tough to pass on but it would just be another Mustang rather than "ooh, a Maverick, don't see those any more"!

Door panels usually tell the tale and these look as nice as the day they were born.

Here is the worst possible angle i could get in my garage... If it ran i would pull it out and find juuuust the right lighting and angle.. but nevertheless they still look awesome.

on top of getting the wheels on there... I cut a huge hole in the trans tunnel, got the T5 mounted and driveshaft installed... which i think is going to be okay without shortening... i have about half an inch of play (wheels on the ground, trans fully installed). changed the oil as well.

next on the to do list: transfluid, hook up the exhaust system again, plugs and bleed the brakes!
