I read skipsgrabber’s Crown Vic 12” front disc brake conversion awhile back. http://mmb.maverick.to/threads/crown-vic-front-12-inch-disc-brake-conversion.114417/
This peeked my interest, but seeing that I have a abundant supply of Ranger 4x4 parts I test fit a Spindle assembly from a 2005 with 11.97” rotor & dual piston caliper on my Torq Thrust 15x7 wheel today.

It fit great with no rubbing, looks like I’ll be making up some brackets to mount the calipers on the stock Comet drum spindles.(y)

I installed new control arms and springs a few years ago but the 620 1" drop springs left my car sitting IMG_20190902_142953086.jpg IMG_20190830_114528796.jpg a little high in the front. Not 4x4 high but enough that I was asked many times why my car sat so high. Finally got tired of answering so I cut one coil and dropped it about 2 inches. I also installed Drake hipo spring perches as the rubber in my old ones was deteriorating. Not as nice as roller bearing perches but an improvement over my old ones at about half the price of the rollers. They are decent quality and made in Australia. Tires are 235/60 15. Working on getting the '70 running so I can drive it while the '75 is getting the engine swap. Everything was going great until I tried to hook up the transmission shift linkage. The engine/tranny I'm putting is came from a floor shift car, and the '70 is column shift. Tried taking the shifter shaft out of the transmission and rotating it 180 degrees, but the shape won't allow it to move when in the down position, now hunting for the shift lever that goes through the side of the case, but for the column shift (points down) if anyone happens to have one laying around. Had thought about taking the floor shift from the '75, but was hoping to reuse that on the swap.

Received my new ignition switch, so I will change over the lock cylinder, and put a new pigtail on it and see if this is the culprit in my fan problems, and starter problem.

I drove my car once this year. I took it onto the freeway to find out my hood was not completely latched. The good thing is I found out on the ramp and could stop and pull over easily. The bad thing is my hood is folded in the corners and my hinges are probably ruined. Dents in the roof, and the upper windshield stainless.....wouldnt you know, my alternator quit on the way home too. Lol....this year was a bust. I'll be using that Comet hood I got from P&P sooner than I expected. No, it didnt happen today....It is today that I can admit it though.

Just gave the majority of the money from the sale of my motorcycle to Summit. Thankfully my brother lives in BFE and has a stay at home wife so it's all going there. Hate the thought of it all walking off my porch while I'm at work!

Got the 200 in the '70 fired up. Had to swap shift select shafts from the 240 c4. So far no leaks.:whew:

The shift linkage was pretty loose as it was missing most of the nylon bushings so bought a collection of brass door bushings in a pack from the parts store. Had to polish a couple of them down on the bench grinder to fit the OD. Now nice and tight! Just put them on a bolt and let them run against the wheel until they were the right diameter.

Was having issues with idle on the 200. I had put the carb from the 250 on and it was just not working. Between the altitude (7,000 feet) and I assume a larger jet, just could not get a stable idle. So today I put the 200's carb back on and it just purrs. The reason I had put the 250 carb on is the throttle cable, the '70 comes in behind the engine and the '75 the 200 came out of comes across the valve cover. Have to pull the throttle cable and gas pedal from the '75 and install it on the '70. Will figure out something as a replacement on the '75 once I get the 5.0l into it.

Now some tires, fresh fuel, seat belts, insurance and clean up; it should be ready for a test drive.

Not the best photos but almost completely done with the fresh paint for my maverick, alpine white doesn’t get much brighter haha. Has taken 6 months of prep but my dad and I are proud to say we painted it in the garage!

It feels great to be able to do a paint job in your garage and have it turn as nice as you hoped it would .
