I bet that is not the only rust on that car. I see rust on the aprons up around the shock towers. Probably has rust on other places. So, you have to decide how much rust you are comfortable with having fixed. If I was out in California....I would keep looking because 100% rust free cars are out there.

And fixing rust is pretty expensive right?I was about to start taking auto body and welding classes at school next semester and you are able to work on your own cars..but maybe I should keep looking until I find a rust free car and focus on my 73 mav 250 for now....my engine is gettin rebuilt hopefully I get it running by the summer

Based on your responses I don't think this is the car for you unless you are willing to have a long term project and really want to learn rust repair. What makes you want a second Mav?

egg-sacked-ly what he said...i get the impression that you really want this car...but don't that cloud your judgement, or common sense...just from what i've read on the repair process and what parts of the underside looks like aside from the torque boxes...i go with what Craig said...be patient, wait, and keep looking...you'll find something that's a better fit for you... besides...now that we all know that you're looking, we can keep an eye out for you too...:yup:

My Mav used to be my dads but he passed away so 12 years after not running I finally started working on it.I rebuilt my tranny and now doing the engine..The car is a four door which is my only downfall but It has sentimental value so I'm commited to the car ...Ever since I started learning more info about The maverick I fell in love more and more with the car and in specific a grabber or a two door..I just love how A grabber looks and I want a V8 car as well ( 2 door)...I am learning from my maverick right now but I would also want a v8 grabber so I can hotrod it and turn it into a beautiful car like most of you have with your cars..I know it takes a good long time but I'm patient

cowl problem im talking about is the vents right below the windshield they tend to rust away and water will leak onto your carpet thus rotting out your floor pans

Im guessing my 73 has this issue then!!there was water that had dripped into the inside and it dripped onto the floor pan!I was wondering how that happened
