In between, glossy looks over powering, and flat looks dirty or "blah". I use Black Magic and then wipe it off with a clean rag.
I have not ever seen oxidation on my tires, just the words "BF Goodrich". I like the shiney look, but yet again, not too shiney, got to wipe them down after the spray.
We had a lovely seminar on rubber stuff here at work a while back. The brownish stuff that appears on your tires is actually there to block some of the UV rays and keep the rubber from decomposing from sunlight. Most of the tire shine stuff makes the rubber very soft and wears it out faster not so good. What you want is something that coats and has some UV protection. The product shouldn't have any solvents or cleaners or anything even remotely oil based, because that will eat the tires up real quick.
For a clean, but not super shiny look, use Pledge furniture polish.Lemon smells the best. Just spray some on a CLEAN tire & wipe it off, gives a nice look.
I'm not sure. Probably not too bad though. The way most of these "weekend warrior" type cars go through tires you'll probably run out of tread before sidewall integrity ever becomes a concern.
I used to like real glossy, Now I like um in da middle but lean more towards the flat but clean look. Dan @ roundup
Read the labels... Most of the stuff made for tires or rubber has preservatives and UV block in it. Therefore your tires are not in danger from using flat, semi-gloss, or glossy if you are using the right stuff. Now if you go and wipe your tires with 10w30 or lard, then you may be causing deterioration. Personally I like to wipe them with raw bacon. Dave
I can just see every dog in your neighborhood chasing your car down the street screaming " It's Bacon!!!".
yea but you dont get far on a flat ....i like to run them at what ever they say on the sides of the tire :evilsmile
