what gear ratio is better for an auto daily?

    My vote is 3.25 if you're ever going to get on the interstate much.

    Add the rear tire size into your thoughts here. When I road raced, rear tire size was a like a cheap quick change depending on the track. Tall for high speed and short for rapid excelleration. never had to touch the diff gears. Tires do make a big difference.

    I have 3.08's and would rather have 2.79. I don't drive mine every day, but when I do that 250 is singing at 70mph. I did a 2.79 with T5 set up a few years ago, but that was too much. Couldn't get into 5th until over 70, but it was fun...

    I personally would never go above 3.25 on a car without overdrive that will see regular highway use. Hell, the 2.79's in my car seem like too much sometimes. Most people probably don't drive their Mavericks 66 miles a day at 70-80 mph on the interstate like I do though. I'll probably looking at 3.55 gear for my car soon, and put a T5 in it. The rear end in my car has 306,000 on it, and it's starting to whine pretty bad, chunk needs rebuilt.
