I don't know what happened to the pictures, I think the forum changed and the pictures didn't get reloaded.

If you really want to do this mod I'll help you but read my posts first this isn't going to be easy!

First, have you done the shock tower mod? Motor has to be out, streering gear box will be grinded on, a lot and the frame for your number 4 header tube will have to be cut... yeah you'll be cutting and then patching the frame.

Some really old tubular automotive headers for the 351c swap.

I hate to step on you here Scott but the old tubular headers are not the way to go. You have to change motor mounts and frame mounts to make them work + a lot of other things to boot. I helped a friend do this mod and it was much worse the 6208 swap and then the headers still rubbed.

    Sorry man.

    As always just my .02

Back in 1983 there were not a lot of choices. LOL Does sombody make some headers for a 351C in this car? I will buy them, I agree, As I recall when my front came up my steering hit the headers. They were a nightmare, 8 individual tubes crossing under the motor. Please give me the hook up for good 351C headers!

We purchased a set of Hooker 6901's for our 1971 Maverick 5.0 EFI with T-5. We have minor fitment problems. The driver's header is hard up against the frame rail and we had to adjust the steering to get the best left and right turning radius. We cannot turn lock to lock. I was leery of buying the Summit's because a set that I had purchased for my son's truck really hung low. These 6901's are low but they are about as tight to the floor as we could expect.

I suppose you could start with a set made for putting a 351 C in a 67 Mustang, those are out there.

Would 1-3/4" tube 351W mustang headers work in a 302 Mav, anyone try it?

Also of all the headers offered what ones go straight? (parallel to the frame rails vs at an angle like many I have seen)

    cheezno6,

The 351w block deck height is 9.503 and the 302 8.200. If you were to put the 351w headers on the 302 they will be raised up and out about an inch...................may or may not have an impact on the steering etc.

    IMHO

    scotturnot,

I have seen two early Mavericks with Boss 302's in them, and both used the factory exhuast.
What cheezno6 said...............do you have the towers notched?
    Why not make your own???????????

Gonna sound dumb but after all the money you spend and more importantly after all the hassle of putting the 351C in it, it would just be better to put a mustang 2 front suspension in and go from there. After putting a 460 in a 67 Cougar I will never keep shock towers when going to a big motor.
