By the way, you guys have harrassed me (er, the shackles) so much that I took the saw to them yesterday and cut off the excess. Doesn't solve the height/geometry issues, but at least they don't look like shackles anymore. All the sparks hit a towel that was full of trans fluid, coolant, and who knows what else. and lit the thing on fire. Burned for about 5 minutes under my oil pan/trans until I took of my foggy goggles and noticed it. Scared the crap out of me. Luckily, whatever was in the towel burned real low and cool, maybe an inch high flame over most of the towel, so it didn't torch my car.

Learn something new everyday, or die a stupid death!

No matter how much we rag on you it's not worth setting the car on fire!
I'm glad to hear nothing was damaged! :whew:

Shackles are like afros and polyester. Everyone had'em in the 70's,they looked bad then too.

welp, that solves it all. i'm cutting my front springs a coil and a half, and i'm putting my shackles as far up as they'll go...:-D

    hehe

actually, sooner or later i'm going to get new springs... maybe the ones off my van if they'll fit since i want to lower my van anyways. then i can take off my shackles, but i still want to cut my 6 banger front springs some so it'll sit nice and low...but not so low i can't go over speedbumps.
