My biggest regret is selling my FIRST Comet!

If I would have kept it, I would be years ahead on my build and quite possibly be completely finished with the drive train and be driving it by now.

I'll second that a Mustang II suspension is a better option than cut shock towers (which is still a better option than original shock towers)....
but then I would probably want to fill all that open space with a big block ....

Yep. I might have said that I wish I'd done an MII front end before the Windsor swap, but I think if I'd done that I wouldn't have gone with a Windsor...

Besides, it's on my wish list. This is probably not the last engine swap my car will see.

For a street car, the 347 with aftermarket alum heads makes a nice package. I am happy with that decision. It actually removes weight from the front end makes nice power.

If I felt a need for more power a (stroked? roller?) Windsor would be ample for me on the street.

The MII suspension would be great to eliminate the towers and steering box and for improved handling. If I ever planned to do another car the MII would be part of the plan.

If I have the funding and the need to tear it that far down again any time soon, MII suspension has got to be worth it just for the handling. But I know if I do that the temptation do something weird with the engine will be hard to resist. Mod engine, LS, big block, turbo, something... At the very least I'd take advantage of the space for some bigger headers.

I was going to paint mine yellow with blue striping, like the first '70 Fast Eddie Maverick. Everyone I mentioned it to, hated it and I gave into peer pressure & went with my second choice, Medium Blue. I wish I had ignored them.

I came to the same conclusion when I pulled a 302 with headers out of a donor. That pushed me over the edge just at the right time to get the R&C set up.

Since I've yet to actually start the "build", nothing. Although I've changed it in my mind a hundred times:biglaugh:. I pretty much got the Comet locked in as to how it will be done, and for now I just drive the Maverick while the Comet continues to ferment for a while longer (about 18 more months and NO debt!) before I strip it down & send it to get bodywork/paint. Been collecting parts for it & have most hard to find stuff, all that's left is floorpans, weatherstrip and interior stuff like carpet/headliner...things that are readily available new.
    I keep tossing around ideas on the Maverick;
    keep it a 200/3spd, maybe a 4spd o/d
    go 5.0 roller w/4spd o/d(hey, I'm working with what I've got)or..
    '69 351w/c4
    small bumpers or not
white Grabber stripes(it's light green, It'd be the "Key lime Grabber"!)
    poverty caps or magnum 500s
Grabber spoiler/ sport mirrors or not
and so on and so on....

I just wish I would start changing my mind 3 weeks before I buy everything I need to do a specific project instead of 3 months after I pay for it all.:rofl2:
