You have to either call Ford Customer Service and request a 999 report or spend $40 at http://martiauto.com to verify if it was a real Comet GT. Unfortunately ... Mercury did not use a unique model number for a GT like Ford (luckily) did for a Grabber. No way to tell from the VIN. Of course ... if you had the original Window Sticker that would do ...
Hood and grill ... yup ... no problem. Do a search on Small Bumper Swap for details on how to convert a 73-77 Comet or Maverick to 70-72 style bumpers ... it is not a direct swap ... you need the bumper, brackets, gravel guard and lower valance. You need to do some cutting, grinding and drilling as well.
oh ok, cool, that shall keep me busy...:bananaman One more (dumb)question, would there be enough room to fit a 1998-2005 5.4 engine? either that or I would swap the 4.6 from my current stang together with the tranny and put it into the comet. I would spend bout $6K on a supercharged 4.6 cobra engine for my current mustang since it would be engineless.
cool, I'll go that route, it turns out cheaper too...so im happy about that i'll keep you guys posted on my progress....
