gene is right. you need to be getting a shorter belt not a longer belt.
im assuming that your using the fox mustang serpentine system. even if your not i cant think of any configuration with a spring loaded tensioner that would need a longer than measured belt

The tensioner presses downward, adding another bend to the mix, adding another inch or so to the overall length.

Shorter, and I wouldn't be able to even get it around all the pulleys.

When I am measuring, I have the tensioner NOT included as one of the pulleys. It is all the way down, and I am measuring without even taking it into consideration.

Once I put the slightly longer belt on, I will pull the tensioner up at tension, then it will add that extra bend and extra inch or two to the travel.

ok. when i do it i measure with the belt/string/wire/bed sheet routed under the tensioner and then remove length.

either way should get the desired results.

I figured you were misinterpreting what I was measuring.

At $8-12 per belt, I should be able to get it right with one or two tries, starting with the 805 belt.

    Well...

I realized today, after belt #2, that 805 is NOT 80.5 inches. I actually started with an 815 and it was 82-1/8" long. Now I have the next size smaller which is 806, not 805, and it is 81-1/8" long. Still too long.

Next one down should work. I ASSUME the next one will be 80-1/8". Which ends up being 6k795 like gene said above :dizzy:

Also, I found that original picture in my R&C thread when I updated it yesterday.

Well...just one more little stupid road-block...

Finally found a belt that just BARELY would slip over the pulleys, and fairly tightly, at that. But when I put the tensioner on it, it still stretches it so much that it pushes it back down to touch itself.

SO, A/C compressor goes back on or I need to buy an A/C delete bracket and pulley.

I thought just maybe, i could get away without it.

I plan on running the Windsor with the AC compressor acting as the AC delete pulley. :) If its an aluminum compressor, the weight shouldn't be a big issue.

Did install an air pump delete pulley. I didn't think the tensioner was getting good angles on the belt with no pulley where the air pump was.

I have been running the A/C compressor just because there was nothing on that side of the engine and I needed it to create the angles needed to keep the belt tight. I figured I would someday install A/C, and this compressor would be a good core exchange.

It only weighs 10-15 lbs or so. And I am not that concerned with weight reduction. More with underhood clutter.

Or have an aluminum block machined to mount your power steering bracket to that utilizes the accessory holes on the head and allows you to raise the pump pulley up high enough to create your desired angle, and it would be reversible.:D

OK, moves power steering pump up to air conditioning location...

Says "Uses stock serpentine belt: No"

So I will be back in the market for another belt!!! :rofl2:

Sounds pretty good! And I always wanted to mount the A/C BELOW everything so the hoses aren't all over the top of the engine bay. If I ever add A/C, this would be the bet!

    Ordering now!!!

if you have the smog pump it would use the fox mustang non ac belt. but i really doubt you have the smog pump or an eliminator pulley, so custom belt time again.

I am keeping the 80-3/8" belt, just in case it fits after the A/C delete kit comes in tomorrow. No smog pump. With just a little bit of luck, it may fit fine.

It fits now, but I have no idea how far in or out that delete kit will move the p/s pump. This belt will work if it comes in a little, but it cannot go out any.

Not a problem, I am getting pretty good at finding belts. I now know how to do it and get it right the first time.

    I hope!

Got it today, still have the wrong belt. But, only an inch or so longer than the original belt, so I will take that in as well as the piece of string i cut and match it up to what they have in the shop.

I like the power steering up on top...

Pulley is not all the way on yet. Waiting to get a belt on so I can use the long straightedge to get it all lined up.

You should be able to flush the pulley with the pump shafts if the mounts are correct.
