Search is down and looking at a auction for Wilwood front disc conversion that uses the drum spindles.
Anyone running this system 140-11074? How is it if so?
    Thanks !

Most people just go with stock disc brakes from 75-77.

Not me.. but I would offer this friendly advice in regard to brake upgrades. As far as rotor design/dimensions go, unless you're cutting weight for pure race duty?.. more thickness is always better than less. The basic rule with brakes is that bigger diameter gives you more brake torque capability.. while the thickness gives you the durability to hold on to and take advantage of that extra torque over a longer period of time.

Imo, that's a nice diameter on those but are only just over 3/4" thick and won't take very heavy abuse on highways or during other highspeed fun times. I see tons of those commonly sized kits on street/strip combos every year. If you abuse and push them too long you'll end up smoken' em' and they'll warp. Plenty good for "turn it on.. turn it off" and other light to moderate daily use type fun though. Luckily our cars are light and that helps ease up on the brake torque requirements which leads to longer parts life.

What's your overall plan for the cars use? Do you just want to look sporty?.. or do you want to actually act sporty with the car? Maybe sporty isn't quite enough and you want to get racy with it? One brake design won't do it all.

I drive all my junk hard so I don't like thinner brake rotors. Too bad they didn't make Maverick or Comet station wagons so we could be swapping out their heavy duty brakes to our cars. lol

I have that kit, I have lots of friends that use the same kit, on the street. I tend to listen to a company that is in the brake business, they should know what they are doing.

Thanks Groberts101 some great inside. I will be driving car on weekends and maybe a little stop light Racy with it. Mostly weekend cruises and car shows.

Dave B so the kit bolted up nice and no issues after installation? Did it improve the stopping of your car? Did you get their brake line kit also ?

They are on the car I'm building, no issues with fit. I made my own brake lines, and had flex hoses made. Anything has to be an improvement over the stock setup. My friends that have them, seem more than happy.

Did you change the master cylinder and add the disc proportion valve?

Yes, Willwood master cylinder, and an adjustable proportioning valve.

Ok pulled the trigger and ordered the Wilwood kit for $553 shipped to my door
Figured it not costing much more than the Granada route and it's all new from a reputable Co.
Found used Granada spindles $100 and 3 hr drive one way he won't ship so $50 in gas
New calipers and core charge $100
    New rotors. $100
    Bearings and seals. $50
    Total around. $400
