my cars rust free, and two people glass shops installed it, it did same thing....the gasket was junk....made in foreign country shops agreed with me on fitment
I think I'm going to be needing to patch the gaskets on all of my windows, minus the driver/passenger windows. Both the front and back have gaps where the glass gasket has pulled apart and it's almost a straight shot into the cab. It's got me worried because I have no clue how long it's been like this and I know it's been sitting out in many rainstorms in Cali's rainy season. I hope it hasn't ruined anything under the dash or back seat... Could I just caulk around the holes as a temporary fix until I can afford a new windshield/back window/back-seat-window seals? Parts of it are just coming off, it's definitely been sitting in the sun a lot of it's life.
dont use silicone!!! it will eat paint and start rust..... go to glass shop and get butyl sealant, thats what was used originally
As a follow up, the gasket were installed in a 1971, the the part # is a 1972 ( yes there is a differant part # for a 1971) Don't have a clue as to why that is, anyone know why? And the gasket I have now is the same as the others, it's going into the Comet .
