Glad to be here. I don't have a mav yet but I'm looking around and have a build plan in the back of my head so I signed up to learn about the platform and hopefully find some closure. :D

Find some closure?? Visiting this site just feeds the fire :)!! Like you, my son and I are not players yet, but figuring on picking one up this weekend if all goes well. Not a lot here in the Midwest, but you see a few more down your way, I'm 1.5 hours north of KC. Welcome to the board, I've got family in Kirkwood as my dad grew up in StL.

Thank you all that replied. Its a fairly simple build plan. A ratty Mav or Comet, windsor 351/5spd, disc brakes and 5lug swap. I mostly ignored these cars until i saw a craigslist ad for a 71(?) maverick, white an I6 and 4 lugs. It had the look i wanted, but nothing else. Just a beater with some performance, I imagine these cars are fairly light no? Shouldn't take a whole lot to make it quick. I look forward to learning and interacting with everyone. :)

You might want to rethink that 351W as opposed to a 302. Seems to me to be a lot of extra work and expense for a car that is not going to require the additional displacement. These cars weigh between 2,800 and 3,000 lbs.

My Comet used to be powered by a 351W.
