So I'd be better off boring over a 302 and adding some bolt ons or even doing a 347 build? Also I assume these cars came with manual transmissions as an option? So pedal packs and clutch setups are available? Time to start lurking..

I would go with a 302 based roller cam engine whether it be a 306, 331, 347 or 363 ci. Three-on-the-tree was standard. Three speed on the floor and automatic were options.

Wait to get a car before you acquire peddles. You may get lucky and purchase a car with a standard transmission. Even better, a V8 car with a standard transmission.

Yeah I won't start sourcing parts until I find a car, I do have a foxbody 5.0 and T5 from an 87 Mustang that my friend's brother wrecked. I wouldn't be lucky enough to be able to use the disc brake struts from it would I? It had a tubular k member (fubar from wreck) and coilovers that I still have sitting behind my dad's work.

Welcome from Portland, OR. I bought mine 15 months ago. I just wanted a pre 1975 v8 car, the lighter the better, and wound up with a Comet. I am hoping to drive it by the end of summer......if it quits raining before then.

Thank you all. Turns out Mavericks don't pop up on the local craigslist often. Any tips besides, fb groups and offerup?
