alright, so, I told him to tow it with his truck to his house and do a regular tune up.. oil, plugs, check the points... etc but if you guys just think its a simple "its not had a good tune in years" then ill go with that !
Air, Fuel and Spark, and it'll run. No offense, but you do know how to start a car with a carburetor? You do have to pump the gas a few times...
One last question, I really thank you guys for being so fast with this.. theres a random "modern" switch under his dash. Valet switch to disable ignition or fuel? haha Ill be sure to update you on what it ends up being. we had an old gmc once that you had to flip a switch to allow the fuel pump to prime, dad never found ou why, never cared it was just a farm truck
and if you smell a lot of gas after the cranking and cranking, wait a little while, hold it to the floor and crank it again
heh, FAST, fuel, air, spark, timing, and yeah I do, but Im really not gonna drive to hanley when Im in regina to help the bastard. The comet I bought is all tore apart in dilke.
Thanks for the ideas guys, I just wasnt sure if it could be indicative of something more serious so I figured Id ask before I drove to his farm, probably on tuesday. Ill update y'all once I get to mossbank and get that beast started.
You got to look at the simple things first, as Dave said it best, fuel, air and spark---and you get fire
That was another thing I had to do to get mine home - I took my lawn mower gas can and put 2 gallon of fresh in the tank plus a little bit in a paper cup to add directly into the carb
So the verdict is in.... the toggle switch under the dash goes directly to the battery and the horn Took him a second to realize the horn is just grounded to the body, apparently he flipped it thinking "one wire, wont make a noise" and damn near pooped hiself xD Oh and, turns out that the plugs were all fouled up With Oil. He replaced them all it turned right over. I didnt even have to go down there! Which is kinda sad cause I was looking forward to snowmobiling after But thanks for all the help guys at the very least I know all you guys will quickly respond if I ever have an issue with my car (Heres hoping I dont)
