On the 74 maverick i have about 1\2 to 3/4 inches of play on the input side of my gearbox before any output is seen......this of course makes driving real fun lol. Are these gear boxes fluid filled? Anything i can do to fix it.or just replace it?

See http://1bad6t.com/Maverick/repair/steering_02.html Adjusting the screw on top of the gear box is only half of the story. You need to adjust the other haft of the box or you will damage the inside of the steering box
