I would love to have a Fiero, but only with a stupidly overpowered engine swap. Northstar V8, 3.8 supercharged, even an SBC.

I will forgive its shortcomings for being a mid-engine car with great handling and a perfect platform for engine swaps. You can add all the weight you want to the engine bay and it doesn't hurt handling, maybe even improves it. What other American car is like that?

A friend of mine bought a Fiero when they first came out. After about two weeks the wiring harness behind the dash caught on fire. The dealer had the car for quite awhile fixing it. He got the car back and promptly hit a deer, totaling the car.

I think all Fieros had dash fire problems. A friend of ours had one that he gave to his son who was in the Army. When his son was transfered to a base in Calf. he took the car with him. He made it as far as Nevada when the car caught fire somewhere out in the desert. The inside of the car filled up with smoke and the dash went up in flames.

i see the mustang and the maverick almost as if they were the same cars ....was the mustang in that book too......i wouldnt say anything about other cars because there isnt a perfect car.Maybe for us our car is the best and thats what matters to me, not what a stupid book says about it.

on the gm bank Id say (with out being v-8ed) in no order of top p.o.s. vega, chevette, citation, monza, and their pont.olds.buick counter parts, sunbird, corvair, mid 70'sto80's cadilacs ht4100 ring a bell, or 4,6,8,can't believe they are trying that crap again only this time they are messing with fuel, valves, and ignition cant wait to see all those problems,if i wanted a 4cyl i would buy one.mopar had some fine examples of their own with omni/horizon,any form of the k-car,and when they couldnt mess one up enough on their own they'd borrow one from mitsubishi, dodge colt and other step children from japan, the fords didnt fair real well then as well with early escorts, exp, festiva, are just a few and poor amc buying all the big three's leftover parts each year to come up with some thing of their own no wonder they were doomed, and i wont even go to the wish- you - go, renault, saab, honda, etc.but the maverick on the list? maybe he picked it because it was one of the few cars he could remember, they are still around unlike a lot of my p.o.s. list they didnt last long enough for most people to remember they existed, well to each his own i know i had good luck with some of the ones on my p.o.s. list but i still have that opinion of the mark and he can have his of the maverick just leave a few more with me.......

Pinto, YEAH!! I am enjoying working on my wagon, can't wait until I can drive it! Blugene will attest to the fact that it's - um - gonna be a while  (of course, his help on it has been INVALUABLE)....
