lol.. that thing looks like a squished current gen molded onto an RX8 frame.

and here we go with the hatchbacks all over again.

of course it will be lighter than current offerings(and I seriously think we need help there).. and with V8 power.. it'll fly off the showroom floors if they go better than they look.

Just looks too much like a compact aussie version to me, IMHO.

 

Let's see what the 4-door version looks like!

I absolutely concur.

 

I think it looks pretty good. At least compared to most cars today.
They all look a lot alike to me.

 

I think a new Maverick would be great if it didn't look like a Mustang.

Get rid of the side scoops, and put a Grabber hood on it and I'd consider it.

Oh, and no 4-door models!

I sure wouldn't mind buying one of those wrecked..selling the motor.. and then swapping in the old 302 though.

 

i would. not crazy about the swoop in the back either but i think they would change some of it before it came out for real anyway.luv the thought of having a new car that mimics the old one but with lots better stuff on it from the factory and i don't think i would have to much more in it than i will in my car eventually anyway,PLUS i would still have my maverick from the seventies! lol i mean look at the challenger could they have made it any better!

 

I too think they underestimate the potential sales for more retro models as well.

It would be cool to have a FoMoCo.. "retro-model request thread" around here just to allow us to dream out loud.

Yes....Since it's about 300 lbs. heavier than a Mustang, a diet would be in order

I would, however, I'd like to see more Maverick styling cues. That door looks an awful lot like the Mustang's. And yes, the new Challenger and the Camaro are much in excess of 4000 lbs. Of course they are based on full size cars. (The S-class Mercedes and the Australian Holden Commador/Statesman.) If that car weighs 200 lbs. more than the Mustang, that is nearly 4000 lbs. By contrast, the HEAVIEST Maverick just barely broke the 3000 lb. barrier. I think that was around 1976? JMHO. Craig.
