superior axles has axles that have really long splines on them that can be cut to fit. they are ready to ship. they can even cut them for you if you give them the desired length.

This is what I did and ran shock p# 20701 from oreilly's. I have no idea what it originaly fits but I think they could tell me, next time I'm in there I'll ask,
also got bigger 9/16 u-bolts made at our local truck shop patterned after the explorer ubolts(which are 1/2) I love just over engineering things:smash:
& drilled out the shock plate for them

BUT... I did have to cut and twist the explorer shock mounts to get them to line up enough to line up with the maverick upper mounts

I'll take some close up of it and post them soon

    How much are those?
I think I looked those up when I was getting ready to do mine and
there wasn't much price differance between ordering them(and all the other stuff listed below), and the strange axles. Mine were like $450 for the pair but that was wheel bearings, wheel bearing retainers, spacer for wheel bearings to run 9" axles & explorer brakes with torino housing ends(must have to run 9" axles), screw in studs, and axles. and it comes already assembled(don't have to press the bearing on)just slide them in.
I did have the extra cost of $60(ebay) housing ends though

I went this route because the late torino housing ends & 9" axles serve as a c-clip elimiator on an 8.8

and I think I have about
    8.8 housing off a 98 EB V8 AWD Explorer w discs& 373 gear ratio -free:dancing:
    9" late torino housing ends - $60
    narrow-ing of axle housing - $150
    strange axles w/hardware mentioned above - $453.36
    My Total - $663.36
not including brake parts(cause you either have one that has good stuff or you don't) mine was a nothern Missouri explorer(losts of rusted stuff)
and they obviously didn't take care for it at all, because it had one of the worst rotors I have ever seen on a vehicle(rotor ~3/16 thin& no longer attached to the hat)
so I went with all new brake everthing except backing plates
    K I'm done blabing:whew: ...lol
