    Hi everyone, i'm another newbie.
In fact i've never laid eyes on a Maverick in the flesh.
An ebay ad caught my eye and the car is around the corner from where work is based. The interest has started and i find myself looking at these cars over and over.
Not sure of the value of these cars in Oz, and unsure of the quality of the one for sale. A look won't hurt though.
Not sure if i'll go ahead with a purchase, tiny steps as they say.

    Welcome from Panama City, Florida......
Ok, I would like to know if you are talking about the Maverick in this link......
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-Mav...-/321044257189?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item4abfba99a5
if so what does the price of it convert to in U.S. dollars? also it does have some issues that I spotted in the video clip, and I'm sure others can find other things wrong with it but these may help you in negotiating a better price, the door panel is coming loose at the bottom on the passenger side, no ashtray, no glove box door, no radio and I would hope the seat would move back as the person driving it looks to be a bit cramped.:16suspect
Just making sure you are not talking about a Nissan Patrol/Maverick, as those are widely available in Oz.

    Thanks everyone.
Hi Moneymaker 1, you certaily have a keen eye. the only things i picked up on were the missing parts of the dash and the driver looking cramped. I also noticed the camera man breathed very heavily!
The price converts to just under $15600 usd.
Now to watch and re-watch that video and catch up to your observations :)
    :thumbs2::thumbs2:
    Thanks

It is a real grabber according to the vin...The front bumper has been tucked in...It has an automatic column shift column in it, soo, its most likely a 4 speed swap. (Not a bad thing)
No side marker lights so its possible they were removed and filled or its a brazillian body. If the trunk has a spare tire well...Its brazillian. Not sure but, I dont think brazillian mavs were vinned like the american ones. Interrior looks like a bit of a mismatch what with the seats and door panels being different colors. It does seem to be fairly complete with the exception of the missing int' pieces and the missing fan shroud under the hood (Not uncommon for it to be gone) Check it very closely and take lots of pics of it and post em up here. Plenty of experienced eyes here to tell you whats up with it...Good luck!!!

The rust blown back on the upper radiator hose indicates at least a dirty cooling system and possibly a plugged or leaking radiator(of course the missing shroud is playing a roll here as well)... At the worst could have a blown head gasket, cracked head or block...

Seller says they sell for $15K in the States(not to me), I'd say maybe 1/2-2/3 for that car...

Thanks guys, sharing that kind of experience is invaluable.

The performance of these cars must be pretty good considering their weight and size.
I notice a lot of cars are drag raced, which makes a lot of sense. Does anyone circuit race them? Seems they would make a great track car.

That car is in no way worth $15,000, In fact, it's not even worth half that.
