i have a dealer/factory installed under dash unit in so-so condition.. thinkin on takin it out eventually.. right now I just don't want to go through that headache that would be associated with removal.. although it couldn't be any worse then getting to the fuse box, or the brake cylinder pushrod i changed yesterday... yeesh what a headache..

A/C what's A/C ???? I prefer the 2 x 90 approach...but then again I don't drive her everyday. So I'm gonna have to go with nope. Oh and the headers work great for a heater if you yank the insulation and want to save some weight...hehehehe

Funny, my mother originally ordered up the mav with a v8 just so she could run the a/c and still have power.

30 years later, the a/c is sitting in storage. While it would be nice to have a/c in the car, if you are not using it for transportation anymore, and don't mind ruining the originality, then a/c has no place in the older mavs.

The a/c plumbing, compressor, and everything just make the engine compartment look like crap. Pop the hood, and the first thing you see is that giant beast staring straight up at you. I just couldn't stand it, so I yanked it.

If you have the underdash unit like I do, and you don't want to go through the problem of removing the compressor, ect. you could always get the fan belt for the non-ac.. there is enough clearance, and It will really help with belt slippage..I think the ac,at least on mine, had 2 belts, because the harmonic balancer and the a/c compressor both have daul pulleys. funny thing is, I can't find this belt anywhere.. and my current belt is really slipping, even at the right tension.. thinking on just doin what I suggested, and getting the non-ac belt..the a/c don't work anyways..

I heard the under dash A/C was cheap and durable and works good.

Mount a late model AC compressor down low, looks good, works good, a lot lighter. :)
