I have a C4 listed on craigslist for $200. It's from my 70 Maverick. It was behind a daily driven 250 that threw a rod.

The serial # indicates it is originally from a 68 Fairlane.

A guy texted me and wants to trade for a 347 stroker crank and rods.

    What do Y'all think?

I say if you need what he has and he needs what you have it sounds like a good deal to me....
obviously you dont need the c4 or you wouldnt have it listed on CL and the 347 parts have your interest so WHY NOT?

if youre like me youre just trying to get SOMETHING for the trans right? okay well if those parts he has are in good shape it will save you from having to spend anything.

sounds like a win win he gets a trans you get stroker parts and dont have to spend any money.

have the guy meet you at a machine shop to have the shop check the parts out for you. just watch the bore size on the pistons. I wouldnt go over 40

He said he had cash. so he's coming to pick up the C4 for $200 on Saturday. I think it would have been a fair trade, if I was interested in a more aggressive build. I looked up some stuff about 347 builds and it looks like you are maxing out your block when you do a stroker build. I am more interested in durability and endurance than absolute horsepower.
I told the machine shop I wanted the least amount of bore required to true the cylinder walls.

    They ended up going .030

Because anything smaller than .030(other than std) is usually custom or special order...

It was special order, first they bored .010, then .020, then finally .030 to get the hourglass out of the top of the cylinder walls.

well they tried to get the minimal out but it had to go to .030 but thats okay thats pretty much standard bore and pistons are more common in that size prolly even cheaper

    LOL

Any good machine shop can measure the bores and tell exactly how much it needs bored... I once had a 351 bored .020, found some supplier(forget who) had a set of pistons on the shelf... Figured if it ever needed reboring I could hopefully go to .030 rather than .040...
