Sometimes you need a mental health break. I imagine that freezing your buns off in the garage can be a de-motivator, too. Good looking work.

Right now, I am starting to get bummed that our really super weather period has ended, and any work in the garage means sweating, even if I am out there at 5 AM as I am prone to do. I do get a lot more done in the winter than summer here.

Your environment is just the opposite of mine - I'll be out in the garage until October now without any heat on and it will be great unless we get a high humidity day or two (like your days are every day in the summer) - now my mind is right back into it as I am at work today thinknig about getting that valence finished

I know the feeling, I busted my hump to get the Lincoln drivable for our local show in late April. Drove it home, haven't had time to touch it since. Now it's in the mid 80's, and when I get home everyday, I look at it and walk in the house to get under the AC.

I already had my cage tack welded in place plus some of the welding finished where I could easily get to it - otherwise I was waiting for either of 2 guys I know who are certified welders to weld everything in solid but neither one of them ever showed up after telling me at different times "don't worry, I'll be there" - all I really needed to do was to wait for my son to learn to weld at his job and he threw a bead down today and it looked great - I told him "the job is yours" - he started at the back of the car and is already into the rear main hoop and the halo:thumbs2:

I took a break last fall as well. I just needed time away from it. Instead I focused my energy on my 32. Now back on the Mav and making good progress.

Your project looks good. Keep at it!

I also got the 69-70 Shelby Mustang rear valence mounted tonight - I just need to do some final sanding on the edges to mate it to the quarter panels and re-weld the inside mounting brackets back in place - I also stuck the bumper brackets and rear bumper in place to see how it all looks - I'm happy with it :yup:

Looking good! I am in the same position right now as well, fitting the rear valance. It does take some tweaking. But I think the look is cool and will be worth the effort.

The one thing I can't get past is how far out the license plate is moved in relation to the rear body panel and the bumper. It just looks odd to me. Even on the picture of Thack's car. No offense to him or anyone else that has done this modification. So, knowing I can't leave well enough alone I am cutting up the rear valance and notching it so the plate is back where it (in my eyes) looks better and was from the factory. It's a ton of work, and probably no one will notice it but me. But I think it needs to be done.

I haven't thought much about the plate brackets yet but will give it a good look the next time I'm working back there :thumbs2:

I began a stock looking rebuild in October 1989 when the car was first given to me for free but I was working outside all of the time - I did install my, then stock, 351 Cleveland, 4 speed and Versailles 9 inch rear at that time without removing the front towers using Tubular Automotive swap headers - it seemed that any progress I made from April to October was tarnished by the winters we get in Pennsylvania - in 2006 I finally finished my garage and that was when I began again with a completely new plan working on it in my spare time - the photo is from the day we pushed it in the garage for the first time :tiphat:
