I know theirs some guys working on some I take if you guys are retaining the factory ECU setup. and using the matching auto?
i have not done this yet. i was talking with someone who is doing this on an old t bird. they didnt know about he wiring portion. i took a look and the biggest problem is going the be the speed sensor. it looks like ford uses the wheel speed sensors for the transmission control. this means thats some sort of wheel speed sensor set up needs to be added to the car for the auto to work.
$2k gets you the engine controller kit: https://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=12284 CJ Pony Parts has got a 4R70W kit that seems to plug right in: http://www.cjponyparts.com/performa...c-street-smart-package-5-0l-coyote/p/TRANS44/ Maybe give them a call and pick their brains about re-using a matching auto. They may have already waded through those waters.
As for the vss and trans working, it says itll work with a mechanical speedo...so that should eliminate the vss issue .as should a gps speedo too.. I wonder if theirs a y cheaper solutions.. Too bad theirs not an off the shelve carb intake option I was looking at used coyote engines out of the trucks as you can get then for like 2200 shipped to door
No AOD ever had a modular pattern, the early 4.6 that used them had a small block bolt pattern cast on block... Yeah I know, another stupid move by Ford, why they switched and then had to build AODE/4R70W with two patterns makes even less sense...
Well must not be hard though, read on some forums people running AODs, C4 and gm trans behind the coyote I Got to do more digging it seems
Also i have been reading coyote and mod 4.6 share same bellhousing/ 8bolt crankshaft and flexplate bolt pattern..
yeah for an engine that weighs around 444lbs and puts out 360hp 380 ft lbs for 2k it doesn't seem like a bad route to go..a d it gets modernized
I did some digging and found a way to use a carb setup via 4.6 intake and custom spacers..but when said and done its essentially same cost with loss of the cvvt? I think a good lower cost alternative for transmission would be the use of a 4l80e with coan 4.6 to gm plate/converter and itll hold more power then link posted above
Same forged crank Same exhaust cam Different intake cam .5 less compression ratio Different exhaust manifolds and intake manifold Havent looked into the boss 302 but know they have different intake then the other two...and different exhaust cam then the other two
