I still think if you had them spin balanced the tires on the car your troubles will go away. Balancing the tires off the car is not balancing the complete rotating assembly. It is only balancing the wheel and tire. The brake drum/rotor and lug nuts are left out of the picture. Are the balance weights still attached to your brake drums? Is the brake drums still clocked the same as they were when it left the factory? You can look for tell tale signs such as rust from the axle bearing retainer access hole on axle flange aligning up with the rusty circle on the back of the drum.

There isn't water in your wheels and tires, is there? Sounds like you are chasing something...

Ok, I didnt give up, its not in my nature. Got it home from Tire Discounters and immediatley pulled all the wheels and took them back to the speed shop for balancing. TD messed em up again. I checked the hub centric rings they installed and they are too big on the hub and too loose in the wheel bore. Not by a bunch, but any play at all will keep them from doing their job. I ordered a set today that will fit real snug. A member did a search for a shop here that has the road force balancing machine, thanks again! I made an apointment for Tuesday to get that done. Am interested to see what they find.

Jeff, I cant find anyplace to balance everything while on the car. I believe the weights are still on the drums. The front are not original, but the rear ones are.

I appreciate everyones comments and suggestions. Its always to good to have an outside perspective.

Don, did you ever fix your problem? Am having issues with my wheels/tires, the balancing machines say they are balanced, but at highway speeds...forget it, bouncy bouncy!! Am thinking of trying the lug centric balancing and maybe even the little "dyna beads" in the tires.

Having issues here as well with my American Racing 17s. Freeway speeds i have bad vibration. Have had tires balanced 3 times and every time they're off. Now they are suggesting the hubcentric rings. What size did you need?

Are the wheels hub-centric or lug-centric? Some shops are oblivious to the fact that some wheels are lug-centric and must be balanced as such (with a lug-centric adapter on the balancing machine). They "balance" them on a hub-centric mount and they never balance properly.

Took my wheels to Direct tire today, the guy attached a 5 fingered thing to the front of the wheel then tightened it to the machine. Nothing was "bolted" together like I thought it might have needed to be, the machine read the same whether that 5 fingered fitting was attached to the wheel or not.:huh::huh:. So then he did the "road force" test to that wheel and said that my wheel was fine, but the tire was way out of round and needed to be replaced, being thoroughly confused I left that place with him only doing the test to that one wheel. Got home and decided to go to a closer Direct tire and he said he did not have that road force capability at his store but would still rebalance my tires for no charge. I still dont have a clue as to my next move.:huh::huh:

My bad, thats, Discount Tire, that shows how jacked up I was yesterday. As an update, I called the place I bought the tires from and he called cooper, they had me take them to get them all "road force" balanced, turns out I did have ONE bad tire. So my guy is getting a new tire from cooper to replace that bad tire, fingers are crossed that this fixes my out of balance problem.

If you're running Cooper tires , they're the problem. These used to be good tires, but they've gone to shit in the past two years. I bought a set of 4 for my 96 E150 van a little over a year ago. The fronts were 235/70/15. the rears are 275/60/15. One of the fronts was so out of round (and balance) that it was impossible to balance it. The two rears ? One developed a bulge in the sidewall after sitting in the carport two days. The other followed suit a week later . I got all four replaced, the two rears so far have been OK, The fronts were replaced with Mastercrafts (same tire, same company, different brand) One of these two also cannot be balanced, it's OK below 65 mph, but above that it shakes. I'm going to replace them with BF Goodrich radial T/A's in a month or two. Cooper ? Never will buy another. I've got the old aluminum slots on this van, same lugs as your daisy's, they can be mounted to run true without centering rings, just takes a little TLC mounting them sometimes.
