Nice shop -- congratulations! It appears not to have any windows/ventilation? Don't think a garage/shop here would pass building code w/o ventilation/window.
Didn't want any windows. Since it is a pre-fab structure, my building permit doesn't need anymore inspections except electrical. I will be adding an exhaust fan in the gable in a few weeks.
Electrical work almost finished...gotta pull wire and ditch witch back to the house. It's taking longer than I expected with free labor, but I'm not complaining. Wiring receptacles/fixtures and twisting wire nuts is the easy part but bending conduit is an art. It looks easy...so does watching Bob Ross paint oil paintings looks easy until you try it. Once I get the wire in the ground and run to the house panel box it will get the final inspection and then I can throw dirt back in the ditch. I'm hoping to be through in about 2 weeks if not sooner.
Not to go too far off in the weeds but nothing sets me off more than nosey neighbors who think they have a right to tell you how to live and what your property should look like and the words CODE ENFORCER, I mean what country do we live in anyway........???? Sweet garage, super clean, looks like a perfect place to spend many-many Sunday afternoons!!!
Don't you have a right to face your accuser in this country? The code enforcement officer should tell you who it was
When I had mine built, the nosy ass across the street reported I had someone living in it... What happened was one of the wife's friends was moving out of state but needed to be out of her place a couple weeks prior to leaving, so I told her she could store her furniture till she got ready to leave... Wasn't yet wired, not even had a car in it... I guess a 11'x 14' U-Haul load of household items was more than he could handle... The city inspector came by(I wasn't home) and asked the wife about the complaint and she just laughed at him, gladly took him out back and opened door to show him the boxes of neatly stacked items... He said good enough and was on his way... The old saying paybacks are Hell applies, though I didn't have anything to do with it... A short time later his wife who had been ill for a couple years passed(RIP)... Well her son who owned the house, informed his stepfather he had to move and sold it(he lives on next cross street)... Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy, no one in the neighborhood liked him...
I agree 100% but in a way the code enforcer was/is my accuser since they're the one accusing me. I did call the code enforcer a few days later to explain that the building inspector told me that I was not to move anything inside the building until I get the final inspection although the code inspector told me to put the "junk car" inside the new building with then two weeks from the date the code inspector's first visit. This phone call had the top dog enforcer back at my house with then 15 minutes. He didn't see a problem with my car being in the backyard since it is legal. Matter of fact he told me that if I was him that he would keep the car parked in the backyard. He also said the county has around $300 invested coming out to my house 2 times. This includes wear and tear on county trucks, insurance, maintenance, employees labor, and anything else you can think of. It does look like that taking an anonymous complainer word as fact is costing the tax payers money. Its a shame the tax payer's has to eat this cost.
What is really sad is that they have to put a cost to every single moment of them coming out to your house - I would bet they get that 300.00 in a check directly from the tax office
Just a update on my shop. I started moving stuff in the shop about two weeks ago and couldn't wait any longer to get started doing something with my Falcon. Last week I managed to remove a quarter panel and decided that plumbing the air compressor should be on top of my list on things that needed to be done. So last night and today I put on my plumber's hat and had at it. Still got a ways to go re-arranging things but at least I got the workable shop. Here's a few pics.
