I recently had my maverick sent down to me from northern CA to southern CA out here in the desert were I'm stationed. And my car started running like crap. I check the engine code (eecIV) and code 22 popped up saying my MAP sensor is out of range. I haven't tested it with a multimeter yet. But the vacuum line to the manifold isn't damaged. So I'm not sure what it would be.. I know I have a small vacuum leak in the heater/AC system on the dash where the controls are. But I've had that leak for a few years now. I can only assume it popped up now cause of the elevation change on where I live maybe? I don't have my AC hooked up and I'm tempted to disconnect the heater and plug all those lines. Anyone have any advise?

I didn't see what engine you had and all I could think of was "A MAP sensor in a 70 Maverick" LOL!

is your car speed density or mass air?
if its mass air, the map sensor should not have a vacuum line hooked to it. if its speed density then check for vacuum leaks and if none are found, you probably need a new sensor.

A '91 HO 5.0 doesn't have a MAP sensor(at least from factory), as they are mass air, so is used as a Baro sensor... Basically it's same sensor without vacuum applied...

Well mine is a 91 5.0 ho and my Map sensor has a vacuum line that leads to the rear of the manifold

My engine also came out of a markVII if thatakes a difference on the MAP sensor

It does(I'm slipping)... All MK-VII used speed densety and that requires vacuum routed to sensor... So yes you do have a MAP sensor... Mustangs all had mass air starting with CA in '88 and & '89 for 50 states versions...

Here's a good trouble shooting article, though if the electrical connection and vacuum are OK it's probably bad...

I have a question requiring this. bring up an older thread. we determined that my 91 5.0 ho has a MAP becuase it came out of a mark VII, but I'm curious why it also has a MAF? pic referenced can it run off both?

Then you must be using a Mustang 'puter if it has a MAF meter, no circuitry in MK-VII computer to recognize the MAF...

Never heard of such but maybe Calif MK-VII used MAF??

If it is a Mass Air computer there is not supposed to be a vac line on the MAP, as I stated before it becomes a Baro sensor, port should be left open...
