I bought a new water pump and ordered ARP bolt kit Part # 154-1504… this kit did not come with the right bolts … I called Jegs and they said that ARP would send the correct ones if I knew length and sizes… has anyone else had this issue and do you know what bolts to ask for?

    thanks in advance

the kits don't fit..neither one..it's a well known issue, i ended up with both sets and had enough to make it work..got some random spare arp bolts now.

i have dealt with this several times. arp is great about sending you the bolts. you just need to figure out the size and length that you need, call them, tell them and the send them out to you.
ford made way to many different front end set ups for arp to have correct kit for every combination. its easier for them to make a broad coverage kit and then send the correct bolts to you after you figure it out. it sucks for time consumption but really the only way it can be done.

Given the fact ARP stuff is so expensive, I only use ARP in high load areas. For everything else on the engine, its Tractor Supply or Fastenal.

I ran into this same problem when I was building my motor. I finally got it all worked out for the most part. It did take buying some of these and some of those to get everything to work. It is frustrating to have to deal with but understand why they have approached it the way they did. It would be nice if they had a little side note/word of caution indicating that there maybe be an issue with some bolts not being long enough.

actually, in their 2015 catalog there is a note regarding longer bolts maybe required........also they have listed 2 more new sets for water pump/timing cover application, page 62 can be viewed online too. Like what Bryant
mentioned earlier, Ford had too many different combo's for ARP to make one kit for every application. With my 554-9501 engine/accessories kit, I think they put in 28 different bolts for water pump/timing cover, only need something like 17? So they do try and cover everything, just double checked and I need the following longer 5/16-18 bolts, 2 @ 2", 1 @ 2 3/4" and longer alternator 7/16-14 @ 5 1/2" to complete my installation.
I just finished talking to Zac at ARP and cost approx. $4 ea for 5/16" and $5.65 for 7/16" and they will
    take 15% off total.
    David

they now have 4 different sets for water pump/timing cover applications for 289/302.
