I need some advice. I'm going to put a complete new AC system in the Comet. It's a 250 with AOD, non-AC car. I'm looking at Vintage Air, Old Air Products, and Southern Air. I can't find any reviews or info about which unit would be better to put in. I know the air box in the 70 Mustang is just like the ones in the Comet and Maverick. Anybody put one in their Comet of Mav? Any reviews out there? I've called one of the companies about compressor mounting bracket. Seems everyone only makes the one for 170-200, not the 250.
I've got a Vintage air GenIV in my 69, with full serpentine setup off a fox mustang. My compressor set up will do no good for you, but I love the actual evaporator section. I have the adaptors to control the unit with the factory controls, and no one knows it's not stock unless the look under the dash. Oh, and it will freeze you out!
I have a 250 AC bracket that was made by Vintage Air for a 69 Mustang with 250 it is made from steel...not cast iron like the factory. I found a cast iron factory bracket at the junkyard to mount the Sanden compressor adapter. You can't use 170/200 brackets on a 250 because of different bolt hole locations.
I found the 250 compressor/alternator mount...its for sale. You will need to find bolts and adapter plate.
Thanks for digging it out. Bolts aren't an issue. Do you have a pic of how it mounts, alternator on top or bottom? pm sent
I have a full Vintage Air kit on mine with a under dash compressor, everything went together well and their customer service is great.
There is a company that makes an electric A/C compressor you can mount anywhere, although it is pretty costly. Jegs also sells one for $1200-1500
Will, what year Mustang did you use for your Vintage air setup? I am debating switching out everything from a factory ac Maverick to the non ac Comet, or going aftermarket.
