Are there any headlight upgrades that we can do? I'm just curious if there is a replacement light out there?
I am using Sylvania Silverstar replacements wired direct to battery through relays - made a big improvement over stock halogen replacements.
Here was/is a good tech article regarding an upgrade option: http://mmb.maverick.to/resources/head-light-mod.177/
This is a good article, but requires a lot more than the direct replacements like the Silverstars. If you want to go thru the mod/trouble process highlighted in the link I don't believe beneficial over just plug & play upgrades of today. The mod in the link was done somewhere around 2007, 9 yrs ago.
He meant adding relays from the battery to headlights to get more voltage to the lights. You only use the light switch to turn lights on/off. I also recommend changing from the older seal beams, older halogen, to something like the Silver Stars. Below is a link to give u and idea of how it's done. There are some diagrams on this forum as IIRC. Also, more on the web. http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/exterior/headlight_relay.htm

Cheap HID kits are dangerous to other drivers. I would not buy a kit off of eBay. The best upgrade is a harness and relays. It makes a huge difference.
useing that diagram, how does the...dimmer high/low...wire into it? mine was wired from the low beam side of dimmer switch to low beam headlight relay. the other wired from the high beam side of dimmer switch to high beam headlight relay. the dimmer switch controlled the relays.
Just intersect the high and low wires in the engine compartment. If you want the full benefit, upgrade the wire gauge from the relay to the bulb. Don't forget to upgrade the ground wire. I have a Hella waterproof relay box mounted on the radiator core support. It has three relays for high, low and my Lucas driving lights. Run a heavy gauge wire from the battery side of the starter relay and use a resetable fuse. My bulb housing is a glass Lucas European with Sylvania 2Xe H4 bulbs. The Lucas driving lights also have the 2Xe bulbs. They are amazingly bright white lights but have a short service life. (See avitar and Showcase for photos) Micah
