I am at the point that the rear lap belts need replaced and am curious if anyone has tried mounting a modern shoulder belt type seatbelt in the rear of these cars. If so, where did the upper anchor get mounted? Thanks in advance.

Why in the world would anyone want to do that? Who's gonna be riding back there?

Would be nice to be able to bring my kids along on weekend drives but my understanding is you are not legal to use a booster seat with a lap belt only here.
I appreciate that it might be a bad idea but still want to know if its been attempted

I wasn't saying it's a "bad idea", was just wondering why, but that makes sense if your kids ride around in the back.
I have no idea how to accomplish it, but I'm sure it's possible.

    Thoughts on this?

Use With Retractable Lap Belt With Shoulder Harness Mount (3/4 down the page) mounting kit 206K-Z - for use with no door post bracket.

I would gather this would mount behind the top of the bench somehow and use the existing lap retractor mounting point and center bench clasp mounting points with a suitable 3 point seat belt. I've not taken mine apart but doubt the package tray is suitable for mounting something like a seatbelt; does anyone have a good picture of the rear bench area with the plastic side panels and top of bench seat removed ?

I'll send an inquiry email to andoauto and see what their thoughts are on this and let you guys know what they say.

I don't know about a "good" picture, but I do have a picture.

I went through this extensively with the local OPP here in Simcoe. As it stands, if there are only lap belts, they can be used with booster seats if the child meets the criteria to use it instead of a car seat.
