I'm running a 13" Ford Racing air cleaner with my MSD distributor. I was also finally able to find a K&N filter to fit it. It was a replacement K&N for a '71 Comet with a 302 motor.

it's nuts how they want MORE $ for something smaller. a k&n 11 inch is $100!

I'm not running a HEI distributor, but I run a 13-inch air cleaner.
A friend of mine bought a HEI distributor for his 302 in a '66 Mustang, and it would not clear the Weiand intake manifold (the low-rise, not the Stealth) and he was not able to use it. He ended up going with a Pertronix setup.

What do you actually have, a Ford or GM dist???

Large Fords are Duraspark caps with separate coil, the GM HEI has coil mounted in dist cap...

I'm running a Ford Dura Spark ignition with a Weiand Stealth manifold, 1 " carburetor spacer and a drop base 14 " air cleaner. I have never been a fan of those huge HEI distributors on a Ford engine . Some HEI distributors are worse than others. An observer's eye goes directly to that huge cap and coil. With a GM rear engine mounting they are less of a distraction.

I have attached two photos as examples. The second photo is my Comet in an earlier configuration.

In addition, I have never liked an engine compartment with multiple color combinations as in the first example, i.e. red, blue, grey, black.

    Just my opinion.

I like contrast in an engine compartment. Having everything monotone is extremely boring, and if the color is black, it makes it difficult to see leaks. Now one thing I have never liked is the red & blue anodized AN fittings that a lot of people use. I like AN fittings to be black or silver.

the dist i am using is a gm hei. i don't really like it too much either, but it's a good proven ignition and without spending a ton of $ this is what i'm using.
