1974 Maverick with a 340 horse FRPP motor with an AOD. Will never see a drag strip and we know that stock Mavericks can't corner worth a %#@* (will not be cornering hard anytime soon). Do you need a baffle in the oil pan or not. Stock pans do not have a baffle!

For the extra couple bucks to save a motor, why wouldn't you?

The pan I use is Canton 15-600. It's a copy of a 69-70 Boss 302 pan. I compared it to my original Boss pan and the only diff I see is the drain plug.

I would rather have a scraper than a baffle but you dont need either if its just a driver but if your buying a new pan might as well

$100 dollar difference between stock replacement and Milodon with a single baffle. More than a couple of bucks.

If you are going to buy an after market pan get one with a built in windage tray, free 25 HP.

How much do you have in it already with a built motor, an AOD and, I assume, EFI?

I see your point but if the baffled pan isn't necessary I can spend the money elsewhere. Also, I'm cheap. FRPP crate motor was used out of a Boss Hoss motorcyle ($1200). The AOD was a very low mile rebuild with a shift kit and stall converter out a Cobra kit car ($450). And, the 3.80 8" third member is an equaloc out of a 60s Ford ($250). The EFI was factory 91 Mustang, ripped it out in favor of the Air gap and demon carb (more room).
