Hi! I think I have a very small leak (small enough I never have to top of transmission fluid) but enough to be visible from below. It is apparently from that little "clean" spot on the photo (circled in red), should I tighten it? Is there a gasket or seal inside I should change? Or as it is very minimal (only makes the surfaces greasy and dirty and sometimes drips slightly on the pipe making some smoke) don't change anything? Thank you
Oh I forgot, 2nd question, as I was looking into that I discovered there was a hooking point to the exhaust right next to that location but on my car it seams it was never connected, doesn't have any bolts in there or traces of ever have had any. Also when I try to align them they don't, they just won't without bending the exhaust, how "bad" is it?
If it isn't broken, i would leave it alone. How bad is the cooler line fitting leaking? It doesn't seem to be worth messing with.
Oh so that's coolant going through there? Cause it's transmission fluid that's leaking around there, and no it's not bad at all, never leaves more that a drop on the ground if ever and I never have to top it off so pretty insignificant.
No it is transmission fluid leaking the metal line goes to the transmission cooler in the bottom of radiator. Sometimes its best to leave things alone unless you are prepared to take it completely off, not saying you will have to but you might
ok, got it, and yes, I was about to leave it be but wanted to ask around first Thanks! So now I just have to figure out that Exhaust mount issue haha
you can always apply/spray some engine degreaser, just to clean up the area a bit and help keep some of the drips from falling on the exhaust........may also help to pin point the leak too, either brass 90 degree fitting or steel line fitting. David
I would suggest you try finding another fitting before tightening that one, they break easy. if IRC there is a seal on it. hold the 90 and turn the nut... http://www.cjponyparts.com/cooler-l...3/?year=1976&gclid=CLbutvWz4c4CFQEFaQod8wEM5g
Hi! So I've looked into it and I'm afraid I might have a bigger issue, the other day I had a puddle of water below the transmission, could water leak inside that line as it's going through the radiator? If so, on top of replacing that 90° link, is there some parts of the lines or radiator I'd need to change? Check first? Thanks
If the line was leaking there would be transmission fluid in radiator, that's a absolute... Would also be coolant in the transmission that would turn the fluid into a milkshake, trans would soon need rebuild...
