i have been puttin gthis maverick back togther for over a yr now ,th eproblem im having at the moment is the rear lights stay on even with the light switch turned off,not the brake lights but the tail lights. can anyone tell where to start looking 1st for the problem.im not very good at wiring
Hummm, if it isn't brake lights then either it has some some creative wiring or maybe the light switch itself... If it was switch I'd think sidemarker, license lamp etc would be on...
I agree, if it's just the back it could be the brake light switch needs adjusted. Do the rest of the lights come on and off with the switch?
It must be one of those Canadian Mavericks with the daytime running lights option------Electrical gremlins some of the worst things to fix once you find the problem it is usually an easy fix I would think if it is just your tail lights and not your brake lights the marker lights would be on also
If the side markers are not also lit...... I'm guessing there is some voltage leaking into the brake light circuit. Not enough to fully light the lamp to full intensity but enough to get the glow, making you think it is a taillight. Pull a bulb in the trunk and see which filament is glowing, the tail or the brake. With the lamp pulled out of the taillight housing you will need to ground the bulb holder to get the lamp to light up. If it is actually the brake filament, start at the switch on the pedal, they fail often.
