Hi there. Suddenly the headlights decided to shut down. I have no low beam, only high beams. I changed the dimmer switch that is on the floor. Didn't work out. I checked the wires that go to the dimmer, only one has electricity. I checked the ground wires and cleaned the surfaces, still the same. So I thought it might be the headlight switch. Bought a new one but still the same problem. So what am I missing here? If there is no power I assume it must be a fuse, am I right? I am doing this on my own because apparently nobody wants to work with my car because is too old. A lot of young people out there that didn't learn the basics I guess. Thank you!
The headlamps have their own circuit breaker that automatically resets. No fuse for them. Have you checked the lamps themselves? I blew both out at the same time once on a Ford pickup. I spent hours checking everything as I never thought both would burn out at the same time, but it was just the lamps.
Call me stupid if you want. I've checked the relays, and it was this little bastard. After disassembling everything. Hahahaha! I've interchanged the relays between high and low beams. The FoMoCo one was the problem.
They don't from factory... Just remember if either hi or lo beams operate problem is NOT the H/L switch, has to be at dimmer or beyond...
Yep, like Krazy Comet said, they don't from factory. My father told me the mechanic put them like 10 years ago.
